How it Started
So you want to know more about me!? It’s so great that you’re here! First thing’s first, I’m Katie, and if you are wondering where the “Delaney” comes from in my business name, it’s my middle name. Now, I have been taking photos professionally going on two years, but have been a hobby photographer for nearly 15 years. It started when I was around 12 or 13 and my dad bought a Nikon D90 that he actually never even really got to use because I took it over. It’s the camera I used to learn how to take photos on, even though I primarily shot in auto everything, and I used that camera until the shutter broke about 8 years ago after a big trip to Ireland. Once the D90 broke, I “upgraded” to a D5600, which was perfect for my learning advancements in photography. Using the D90 at home got me interested in photography, overall, so I joined Yearbook in high school, as well as Newspaper, so I was able to really learn how to take good photos, and this was an especially crucial time for me because it was where I learned how to use Photoshop. The skills I picked up in Yearbook and Newspaper have shaped my overall skills that I have today.
Where I’m at Now
Currently, my primary camera is a Nikon Z 7II, and my favorite lens to use is my 85mm 1.7, which produces beautiful, clean photos with crisp lines and colors. Photography is my full time job, and I absolutely love what I do. I am expanding my portfolio, and I am always looking for new opportunities for creative or styled sessions, so please reach out if that’s what you are looking for!

Outside of my Photography
When I am not working, you can most likely find me in my garden. I have loved to garden my whole life, from learning how to grow carrots in my Nana’s backyard, to picking flowers and making impromptu arrangements in my Nonny’s yard, and finally learning how to grow my own entire garden in my backyard. I love finding bizarre and colorful fruits and vegetables that you otherwise wouldn’t find in a general grocery store.
Besides gardening, I also enjoy hiking and foraging, especially for mushrooms during the spring. Morels are my favorite find, and I am always chomping at the bit to go and search for them as soon as the snow begins to melt. I spend quite a bit of time in the forest, and love taking photos in the forest, as well. I love the forest so much that I ended up getting a degree in Forest Science and Technology, and had planned on getting a BS in Natural Resource Management while I was also working for the Forest Service, but after a mass furlough, I decided to change professions, which is how I ended up doing photography full time.
Some of my Favorite Things
I always love to see what things clients are interested in so I can find common ground to help move past that awkward “getting to know you” stage of working with someone new, especially when I am the someone that will be taking a ton of photos of you! That said, some of my own favorite things are music, movies, board games, casual video games, sewing, rock hounding, traveling, and obviously gardening and photography.
The music I enjoy is all across the board. Seriously, my playlists can go from Dolly Parton to Slipknot, then over to Enya, and switch to Bruno Mars. However, some of my top artists are Coheed and Cambria, Hozier, Yaima, Iya Terra, and Aurorawave. For movies, it’s the same, but I am a sucker for fantasy series like Twilight, Harry Potter, and Lord of the Rings. With TV shows, my favorites are Psych, Supernatural, Desperate Housewives, and The Vampire Diaries. So, if you also like any of those things and you bring it up, I will talk about them all day.
